Where Media, Technology, and Critical Theory Meet

Nile

Tan

I’m Nile Tan, a queer filmmaker and storyteller. Through critical media practices, I interrogate power and elevate marginalized voices.

SCROLL

I’m a filmmaker, designer, and storyteller exploring the fluid boundaries between cinema, emerging technology, and speculative media. Rooted in a deep sensitivity to visual language and critical theory, my work moves between film, installation, and hybrid media, pushing storytelling beyond the screen into interactive and participatory spaces.

I hold a Master of Design from UC Berkeley and a BFA in Film & TV Production from NYU. My short films Limitation of Life and The Goddess were supported by Panavision’s New Filmmaker Program, screened internationally, and acquired for North American distribution.

"'Limitation of Life' balances commentary with a love for the golden era of Hollywood, making for a pretty and moving experience with meaning. With this film acting as the second short from director Renkai Tan, it will be interesting to see how the young talent develops in subsequent productions." Asian Movie Pulse

"The debut from Renkai Tan certainly shows an artist with a strong voice, offering an unforgettable tale of revenge that should not be missed." Adam Symchuk
